About Me

Hi, I’m Kira. I’m a 30-something year old just trying to find my way in the world. I have 2 grumpy old man chihuahuas, 2 cats, I’m addicted to all things hockey, and I have a passion for cooking and sarcasm. One of my biggest character flaws is that I get hangry.

Hangry in Maine is my unapologetic section of the internet where I cook, eat my feelings, and occasionally rage against recipes that say “just a pinch of salt”, as if my emotional state isn’t already 87% salty.

I was born and raised in Maine, if that wasn’t obvious; where the winters are long, the cravings are strong, and the only thing colder than the Atlantic is my attitude before I’ve had my medium caramel swirl iced coffee from Dunkin’. This blog is where I turn questionable moods into questionable meals–with surprisingly delicious results.

You won’t find perfection here; you will find butter, carbs, sarcasm, and extra cheese. If you’re looking for a recipe that’ll hold your hand while you cry, an unconventional combination of flavors, the occasional semi-enlightened thought, or just a damn good dessert recipe–you’re in the right place.

I’m Kira

Welcome to Hangry in Maine, my passion project–a place where I can eat through my feelings, find joy in the little things, and share my recipes; ranging from healthy to hearty to things that’ll hold your hand when your life falls apart.
